Last month, the Honor 80 series was launched in China, which includes the Honor 80 SE, Honor 80 & the Honor 80 Pro. The Honor 80 SE is a budget 5G phone with Dimensity 900 chip, the Honor 80 is a mid-range phone with Snapdragon 782G, and the Honor 80 Pro is a flagship phone with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The company just launched another phone under this series in China, the Honor 80 GT. This is a flagship phone with performance being its main USP, hence the “GT” in the name.
Honor 80 GT looks quite different than the Honor 80 & 80 Pro, primarily due to the camera module design. There are three color options, and the phone is 7.9mm thick (excluding the camera module). The weight is 187g for the Black color option and 195g for the White & Blue color option.
Under the hood, the phone has Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which is the same SOC that powers the Honor 80 Pro. It is also worth mentioning that, like the Honor 80 Pro, the Honor 80 GT has an underclocked version of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (3.0GHz).
This chip is paired with 12GB or 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. Honor also added an independent display chip to this phone. For better thermals, there is a large 4386mm square Vapor Chamber.
On the front, the Honor 80 GT has a 6.67-inch flat AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution, 10-bit color depth, and 1400 nit peak brightness. The refresh rate is up to 120Hz. Some display features include real-time SDR to HDR conversion, increased frame rate, better HDR10 effect, etc. There is a hole punch cutout that has a 16MP sensor for selfies.
On the back, the Honor 80 GT has three cameras. The primary camera has a 50MP Sony IMX800 sensor with an f/1.9 lens, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor.
The battery size is 4,800mAh, and the phone supports 66W fast charging. Finally, MagicOS 7.0 runs out of the box, which is Android 12-based.
Honor 80 GT comes in two storage options, and here’s the pricing –
- 12GB + 256GB – ¥3299 (~$474)
- 16GB + 256GB – ¥3599 (~$517)
The Honor 80 Pro with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at ¥3799 (~$529), but in that phone, you are getting a higher quality curved display, better cameras, and a more premium design.
