Xiaomi launched three new phones in China today under the all-new “CC” lineup – Xiaomi Mi CC9, CC9e & CC9 Meitu Edition. All the three phones have mid-range specs, premium design & focus on cameras. All have three rear cameras & a 32 Megapixel single front camera. The Xiaomi Mi CC9e also features the all-new Snapdragon 665 processor which is an improvement from the Snapdragon 660.
XIAOMI MI CC9, MI CC9e & Mi CC9 Meitu Edition
The design of the phones is pretty much inspired by the Xiaomi Mi 9, which is a flagship from the brand. There is a 3D glass back that creates an S-pattern when light falls on it. There is a triple camera setup on the rear on the Xiaomi Mi CC9, Mi CC9e, and the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition. The front is also the same. There is an edge-to-edge display with a waterdrop notch on top & a tiny bottom chin.
The difference comes in the form of the form factor. The Xiaomi Mi CC9e is smaller than the CC9 & CC9 Meitu Edition, just like the S10e and S10 from Samsung. But, the difference in size isn’t that much like in case of the Galaxy S10e and S10. The Mi CC9 has a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED Full-HD+ display whereas the CC9e has a smaller 6.088-inch AMOLED HD+ display (1560 x 720).
There is a difference in terms of the processor as well. While the Xiaomi Mi CC9 & CC9 Meitu Edition have a 10nm Snapdragon 710 processor, the Mi CC9e gets a 2.0GHz Snapdragon 665 processor. The Snapdragon 665 is an 11nm octa-core processor featuring Kryo 260 CPU and Adreno 610 GPU. The chip gets the 3rd generation Qualcomm AI Engine & X12 Modem.
Interestingly, the camera setup remains the same on all three phones. So, on the rear, there is a primary 48MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera & a third 2MP depth sensor. There is a single 32MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
The Meitu Edition does have some camera tricks up its sleeves from the Meitu team like Movie Portrait, AI Low Light Portrait Mode, Beauty Filters, vlog mode with video stabilization, etc. The Meitu Edition comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
All the phones feature a 4,030mAh battery with 18W Fast Charging support. Android 9 Pie runs out of the box with MIUI 10 on top. And yes, there is a headphone jack.
PRICING
Coming to the pricing, the Xiaomi Mi CC9e comes in three variants and here is the pricing –
- 4GB + 64GB – 1,299 Yuan ($189)
- 6GB + 64GB – 1,399 Yuan ($204)
- 6GB + 128GB – 1,599 Yuan ($233)
The Xiaomi Mi CC9 comes in two variants and here is the pricing –
- 6GB + 64GB – 1,799 Yuan ($262)
- 6GB + 128GB – 1,999 Yuan ($291)
Finally, the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Meitu Edition comes in a single storage option, i.e., 8GB RAM and 256G storage. It is priced at 2,599 Yuan or $378. The colors options for the Mi CC9 and CC9e are Black, Blue & White while the Mi CC9 Meitu Edition comes in White Pearl color.
