The Motorola X50 Ultra has launched in the Chinese market, and this is the same phone that is available globally as the Motorola Edge 50 Ultra. The highlights of the phone are the design, the cameras, and the performance. In China, the price starts at ¥3999, or approximately $554.
There is no change in the color options for the Chinese market. The phone comes in the same three colors – Forest Grey, Nordic Wood, and Peach Fuzz. The Forest Grey and Peach Fuzz colors feature a vegan leather finish on the rear, whereas the Nordic Wood has real wood on the rear.
The camera module design is almost similar to the Edge 50 Pro, except for the periscope telephoto camera with its square lens. On the front, the phone has a curved display with a hole-punch in the center. There are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, IP68 certification, and wireless charging.
As for the specifications, the Motorola X50 Ultra has the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SOC under the hood. It is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but it is still a flagship chipset. There is 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB or 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. The battery is 4,500mAh and the phone supports 125W wired + 50W wireless charging.
The display is a 6.7-inch pOLED with a Full-HD+ resolution, up to 144Hz refresh rate, and 2800 nits peak brightness. The display supports Dolby Vision, and it is a Pantone-validated panel.
Speaking of cameras, the Motorola X50 Ultra has three on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.3″ 50MP OmniVision OV50H sensor with OIS and an f/1.6 lens. The ultrawide camera has a 1/2.76” 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor and a 122-degree FOV lens. The periscope telephoto camera has a 1/2″ 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with a 3x optical zoom lens. For selfies, the phone has a 50MP sensor with autofocus.
There is support for 4K 60fps video recording on all the cameras.
Finally, the phone runs on Android 14 out of the box.
