The ‘X’ series by Vivo includes the company’s most premium phones, and recently, the brand launched its first foldable phone, Vivo X Fold, under this series. Now, the X80 series has gone official in China, and as the name suggests, this is the successor to the Vivo X70 series of last year. For now, Vivo launched only two phones under the X80 series, X80 & X80 Pro, unlike the last year when there was a “Pro+” version too. In this article, let us talk about the Vivo X80, which is the cheaper of the two phones.
In terms of design, the Vivo X80 looks identical to the recently launched Vivo X Note. There is a similar-looking camera module on the back, but in the case of the X80, there are three cameras instead of four. The phone comes in three color options, with the orange color option having a leather-like finish on the back. The display on the front is curved on the sides and has a hole-punch cutout in the middle. There is a stereo speaker setup and a large X-axis linear motor.
The camera is one thing that the Vivo X series phones are known for. The same is the case with the new X80 series. Vivo X80 has three cameras on the back. The primary camera has a 1/1.49″ 50MP Sony IMX866 RGBW sensor with OIS and an f/1.75 lens. The secondary camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor and an ultrawide lens. Finally, the third camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor as well, and this one is for Portrait shots since the f/1.98 lens offers 2X Optical Zoom.
For selfies, there is a 32MP sensor on the front. As we can see, the camera module also has ‘ZEISS T*’ branding, and it is there to tell that there is ZEISS T* coating on the camera lenses, which results in fewer flares. Other camera features include Night Portrait 4.0, ZEISS Portrait effects, ZEISS Natural Colors 2.0, etc.
Speaking of the display, the phone has a 6.78-inch Full-HD+ Samsung’s E5 AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1500 nits of peak brightness. The fingerprint scanner sits under the display.
There is MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SOC under the hood that is paired with a Vivo V1+ ISP chip for handling image processing. Vivo X80 has LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The battery size is 4,500mAh, and there is support for 80W fast charging. There is no wireless charging support. Finally, Android 12 runs out of the box, with OriginOS Ocean running on top.
Coming to the price, Vivo X80 comes in four storage options and here is the price –
- 8GB + 128GB – ¥3699 (~$565)
- 8GB + 256GB – ¥3999 (~$612)
- 12GB + 256GB – ¥4399 (~$673)
- 12GB + 512GB – ¥4899 (~$749)
The phone will go on sale in China on the 29th of April. Like the X70, the Vivo X80 will indeed launch outside China but, we do not know the exact launch date.
