In our previous article, we talked about the Vivo X Note, the latest premium flagship phone from the brand. Alongside that phone, the company also launched its first foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold. Like the other foldable phones on the market, this one has a foldable display on the inside and a secondary display on the outside. Just like other brands, Vivo claims its folding mechanism to be one of the best.
Design-wise, the only thing that makes this phone looks different than other foldable phones is the camera module design and the back finish. The camera module design is similar to that of the Vivo X Note, and the back has a leather-like finish. The phone even has the same slider on the left for ring/mute. Vivo has used some big terms to describe the materials used for the hinge design, such as liquid metal zirconium alloy, FS53 Aviation Steel, titanium alloy, carbon fiber, etc.
The phone even has the TÜV Rheinland Folding Worry-Free Certification. That means after 300,000 folds, the crease meets the requirement of the certification.
Speaking of the displays, Vivo X Note is the first foldable phone that has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner present under both the inner and outer displays. It is also the first foldable phone that has a 120Hz E5 AMOLED on both inside and outside. As for the display specs, the main folding display measures 8.03-inch whereas the outer display is 6.53-inch. The aspect ratio of the outer screen is 21:9, whereas that of the inner display is 4:3.55. The resolution of the inner display is 2160 ×1916 pixels, whereas that of the outer one is 2520 ×1080 pixels. The inner display uses the LTPO tech to crank down the refresh rate to 1Hz when needed.
Under the hood, this phone has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC that is paired with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. The battery size is 4,600mAh, and the phone supports 66W fast wired and 50W fast wireless charging too. The heat dissipation area is up to 27217mm square.
The camera setup on the rear includes four sensors. There is a primary 1/1.57″ 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor with OIS +f/1.75 lens, a 48MP 114-degree ultrawide, a 12MP sensor with a 47mm portrait lens, and an 8MP sensor with a 5x periscope lens (with OIS) that offers up to 60x digital zoom. The selfie camera is 16MP for both displays.
Finally, speaking of the price, Vivo X Fold comes in two storage options, and here is the pricing –
- 12GB + 256GB – ¥8999 (~$1,412)
- 12GB + 512GB – ¥9999 (~$1,569)
The phone will go on sale on the 22nd of April in China. We do not have any official word from Vivo on the launch outside the Chinese market.
