Today, Samsung announced the launch of its new 5G phone named Samsung Galaxy A90 5G. It is the cheapest device in Samsung’s arsenal of 5G phones that, until now, included only three devices, namely Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Note 10 5G & Galaxy Note 10+ 5G.
Talking about the phone, DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics said –
Samsung has worked tirelessly with our partners in the 5G ecosystem to bring 5G to as many people as possible, and now we are offering 5G connectivity across the entire Galaxy smartphone portfolio, giving more people high -speed access and connected experiences.
The design isn’t anything unique as we know already. The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G has an Infinity-U display on the front & triple rear cameras. The fingerprint scanner is placed under the screen. The volume rockers & the power button are on the right side & there is no extra button for Bixby.
So yes, there is no fancy pop-up or rotating mechanism like the Galaxy A80 as the main focus is on 5G support at a much lower price than the Samsung’s other 5G phones.
The Galaxy A90 5G features a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SOC powers the device, making it the first A-series phone to launch with the flagship Snapdragon 8-series chip. This SOC is also there for 5G support, as there is X50 5G modem. There is 6/8GB RAM & 128GB internal storage with microSD card slot as well, but only for 6GB variant.
There are triple rear cameras that include a primary 48 Megapixel shooter with F/2.0 aperture lens, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera & a third 5MP depth sensor. There are some unique camera features like Super Steady, Scene Optimizer and Flaw Detector.
There is a single 32MP front-facing camera with features like Live Focus Mode.
There is a big 4,500mAh battery underneath & the phone supports 25W Fast Charging as well. Android 9 Pie runs out of the box with OneUI on top. The phone has in-display fingerprint scanner & Face Unlock as Biometric Authentication methods.
The Samsung Galaxy A90 5G comes in two colours – Black & White. While the company did not reveal the price, Samsung did mention that it will be available in South Korea from September 4, i.e., from tomorrow. Later, it will arrive at other markets.
