HMD launched two smartphones in the Indian market today – HMD Crest & HMD Crest Max. These are budget phones with prices around ₹15,000. The phones are designed for self-repairability, so it is pretty simple to swap the battery, replace the charging port, or replace the display.

Design-wise, we are looking at a glass back on both phones, a display with a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera, flat sides, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a mono-speaker.

Both phones have a 6.67-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. There is a UNISOC T760 chipset under the hood that is built on the 6nm manufacturing process and has an octa-core CPU with clock speeds up to 2.5GHz. HMD claims an AnTuTu benchmark score of around 510,000 points, which is pretty good at this price. The battery is 5,000mAh and there is 33W fast charging support. The 33W adapter is provided in the box.

In terms of cameras, we have a 50MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the HMD Crest, and a 64MP + 5MP (UW) + 2MP triple camera setup on the HMD Crest Max. Both phones have a 50MP camera for selfies.

Finally, Android 14 runs out of the box.

Apart from the cameras, the other difference between the two phones is the storage and RAM. HMD Crest comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, versus 8GB RAM and 256GB storage in the HMD Crest Max.

The price is ₹14,499 for the Crest & ₹16,499 for the Crest Max. As a part of the introductory offer, the phones will be available at ₹12,999 and ₹14,999, respectively, on Amazon.
