Samsung Galaxy A51 official with Super AMOLED Infinity-O display

Samsung Vietnam announced the company’s first 2020’s Galaxy A series phone today, the Galaxy A51. We knew everything about the phone before the announcement, thanks to all the leaks. But now that the Samsung Galaxy A51 is official, let’s talk about it in detail. The phone is priced at 7,990,000 VND in Vietnam, which translates to around $346.

The design is completely different compared to the Samsung Galaxy A50 of this year. There is no longer a notch on the top as the phone features an Infinity-O display, which is Samsung’s way of saying there is a punch-hole display. The Samsung Galaxy A51 has a punch-hole for the single front camera in the middle, like the Galaxy Note 10 lineup. On the rear, there is a rectangular camera housing on the top left that has the Quad camera setup & the LED Flash.

The phone has a glossy plastic back like the Galaxy A50. There is a USB Type-C port on the bottom & the device does have a headphone jack, something that Samsung has now started removing from its flagships.

Coming to the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy A51 features a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Full-HD+ panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. It is good to see that despite the fact that it is a mid-range phone, Samsung didn’t go for an LCD punch-hole panel. Since it is an AMOLED panel, there is an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The SOC powering the Galaxy A51 is Exynos 9611, which is an octa-core SOC with the CPU clocked at up to 2.3GHz. There is 6GB RAM, 128GB ROM & support for memory expansion by external microSD card up to 512GB.

There is a Quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 48-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture, a secondary 12 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture & 123-degree FOV, a 5 Megapixel Macro lens with f/2.4 aperture & a 5 Megapixel depth sensor with f/2.2 aperture.  On the front, there is a single 32 Megapixel camera. Some camera features include Super Steady Video, Live Focus, AI Scene Detection, etc.

Finally, there is a 4,000mAh battery & the phone supports 15W Fast Charging via USB Type-C port. Android 10 runs out of the box with OneUI 2.0 on top.

The phone comes in four color options that are named Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White, Prism Crush Pink, and Prism Crush Blue. The Galaxy A51 is priced at 7,990,000 VND in Vietnam that translates to around $346. The pre-orders are starting from December 16 & the phone would go on sale starting December 27th in Vietnam. Let’s see at what pricing Samsung brings it to other markets.
