Redmi Note 12 series to launch on January 5 in India

Note 12 Pro+ will feature a 200MP sensor

In October, the Redmi Note 12 series launched in China, including the vanilla Note 12, Note 12 Pro & Note 12 Pro+. While Note 12 is a budget 5G phone with Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, the other two are mid-range phones with the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SOC. Xiaomi has been teasing the launch in India for quite some time, and today, the company finally announced the launch date. The Note 12 series is launching in India on January 5, so there are still a few weeks left for the unveiling.

Well, we are not sure if the specifications will be the same as the Chinese variants but assuming that there is no change, the vanilla Redmi Note 12 features a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery, 33W fast charging, a 48MP + 2MP dual camera setup and an 8MP selfie camera.

Redmi Note 12 Pro & 12 Pro+ are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G chipset and feature a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution. This is a 10-bit display with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support. Both phones have a stereo speaker setup and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The battery size is 5,000mAh, but while the Note 12 Pro supports 67W fast charging, the Note 12 Pro+ supports 120W charging.

The main difference between the two phones is in the cameras. Redmi Note 12 Pro has a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor for the primary camera with OIS, an 8MP sensor for the ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The Note 12 Pro+ swaps the 50MP sensor on the 12 Pro with a 200MP Samsung HPX sensor, but no OIS exists. The other two cameras are the same. Both phones have a 16MP selfie camera.

Well, if the phones launch in India without any change in specifications, we are expecting aggressive pricing. The main competition to the Note 12 Pro & Pro+ will be the Realme’s 10 series.

In China, Redmi Note 12 starts at ¥1199, which translates to around ₹13,500. The Note 12 Pro starts at ¥1699 or around ₹19,500, and the Note 12 Pro+ at ¥2199 or around ₹25,000.
