In our previous article, we discussed the Redmi Note 12, which launched in China today with Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. Alongside that phone, Redmi launched three more devices under this lineup. Two of these are the Redmi Note 12 Pro & Note 12 Pro+. As the names suggest, these are the successors of the Redmi Note 11 Pro and Note 11 Pro+ of last year. The main highlights of both phones include the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip, flagship camera sensors with OIS, and more.

Redmi Note 12 Pro

Design-wise, the Redmi Note 12 Pro is similar to the vanilla Note 12. There is a similar camera module design, but the phone has an extra camera sensor, making it a triple-camera setup. There is a USB Type-C port on the bottom, a 3.5mm headphone jack on top, and a stereo speaker setup. The phone is just 7.9mm thin and weighs around 187g.

Speaking of colors, there are four options, three of which are the same as the vanilla Note 12. There is an interesting fourth color option with a unique pattern on the rear.

Redmi Note 12 Pro

Redmi Note 12 Pro has three rear cameras. The primary camera has a 1/1.56-inch 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS and an f/1.8 lens. The second camera is for ultrawide photos and has an 8MP sensor. The third camera is for macro shots and has a 2MP sensor. 4K video recording is supported but limited to 30fps. For selfies, the Note 12 Pro has a 16MP camera.

Under the hood, there is MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G chip built on the TSMC’s 6nm process. This SOC was announced earlier this month and is an upgrade to the Dimensity 920, which powered the Redmi Note 11 Pro/Pro+. There isn’t a massive upgrade in performance, but the main upgrade over Dimensity 920 is support for 200MP sensors.

Redmi Note 12 Pro

Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with a 5,000mAh battery and supports 67W fast charging. The phone also supports Power Delivery 2.0/3.0. Finally, there is a 6.67-inch 120Hz OLED display with 10-bit color depth, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+ support.

Redmi Note 12 Pro+

The Redmi Note 12 Pro+ looks the same as the Note 12 Pro, but there is one design difference. The camera module is slightly thicker, which should explain the 8.98mm thickness of this device (vs. 7.9mm of Note 12 Pro). The reason is the upgraded sensor for the primary camera. Compared to the 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor on Note 12 Pro, the Note 12 Pro+ has a 200MP Samsung HPX sensor, making it the phone with the highest megapixel count in not just among the Redmi Note series but among Redmi’s entire smartphone division.

The phone lacks OIS, which is present on the Note 12 Pro. The other two cameras, as well as the selfie camera, are the same, i.e., an 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro, and a 16MP selfie camera.

Other similarities include the same display, the same chip, and the same battery size. The charging speed is upgraded to 120W.

Redmi launched the third phone under the Note 12 series named the Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition. This is almost the same phone as Redmi Note 12 Pro+ but with one major difference. That’s the battery size and charging speed. The Explorer Edition has a smaller 4,300mAh battery, and the reason for this is the mind-blowing 210W fast charging support. Redmi claims with this charging speed, the battery can be charged to 100% in only 9 minutes! Due to a smaller battery, the Explorer Edition is slightly lighter than the Note 12 Pro+.
