MIUI Camera app reveals Redmi K30i has a 48MP Quad camera setup

Back in December, the Redmi K30 5G launched in China with a price tag of 1,999 Yuan and at the time of its launch, it was the cheapest 5G phone in China. It seems as if Redmi is planning to launch a cheaper version of the phone named Redmi K30i.

An XDA member named ‘kacskrz’ spotted a string in the latest version of MIUI Camera app which reveals that there is indeed a phone from Redmi named K30i, and it has 5G support along with a 48 Megapixel Quad camera setup. So, it looks like Redmi is preparing to launch a phone that is even cheaper than the K30 5G and retains the 5G support. To decrease the price, Redmi went for a 48 Megapixel sensor instead of a 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 present on the K30 5G.

Well, it cannot be said if rest of the specs of Redmi K30i would be the same as the K30 5G. There are chances that Redmi might go for MediaTek’s 5G SOC to decrease the cost even further, but that’s just speculation.

Redmi K30 5G didn’t make its way to the markets outside China, so maybe the K30i is a phone that is going to launch in the global market. It could very well launch under the Poco brand in the global market as there are already rumours of the mid-range Poco F2 and a flagship Poco F2 Pro.
