Moto G8 & Moto G8 Power to launch with Snapdragon 665

Last year in October, Motorola unveiled two phones under its “G” series name Moto G8 Plus & Moto G8 Play. After a long time, we got phones from Motorola with a reasonable price tag for the features they offered. Well, Motorola didn’t launch the non-Plus G8 or the Moto G8 Power last year, but now, a report suggests that the launch of these two phones is happening soon.

XDA Developers got the exclusive information regarding the Moto G8 & G8 Power via a source that has shared accurate information about Motorola devices in the past.

As per XDA, both the Moto G8 & G8 Power feature a hole-punch display with rounded corners. There is a single selfie camera in the hole-punch. There is a physical fingerprint scanner on both the phones, most likely on the rear. Then there is a vertical camera setup on the rear that is placed on the top left. The button placement is also the same for both phones.

Moreover, both the phones feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SOC, which is the same SOC powering the Moto G8 Plus. Android 10 runs out of the box.

Well, that’s all about the similarities between the two. Let’s talk about each of them in detail. The Moto G8 features a 6.39-inch HD+ (1560 x 720) LCD panel & there is Snapdragon 665 SOC powering it. We can expect it to launch with at least 3GB RAM & 32GB storage. There is a 4,000mAh battery & the phone features 10W charging.

Coming to the cameras, there is a triple camera setup on the Moto G8 that includes a primary 16 Megapixel unit with f/1.7 aperture, a secondary 2 Megapixel macro lens, & a third 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with 118-degree FOV. The front camera is expected to be an 8MP unit.

MOTO G8 POWER SPECIFICATIONS

Coming to the Moto G8 Power, it is going to be expensive than the Moto G8 & cheaper than the G8 Plus. It has a 6.36-inch Full-HD+ LCD panel with a resolution of 2300×1080 pixels. There is Snapdragon 665 SOC, 4GB RAM, and 64GB ROM. As the name suggests, the main USP of this phone is its battery. The Moto G8 Power has a massive 5,000mAh battery & it also supports 18W Fast Charging.

There is a Quad camera setup on the rear compared to triple cameras on the G8. The camera setup includes a primary 16 Megapixel f/1.7 sensor, a secondary 2 Megapixel Macro lens, an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with 118-degree FOV & a fourth 8 Megapixel f/2.4 lens. It is probably a depth sensor, but it is not yet confirmed.

The front camera is a 25 Megapixel unit with an f/2.0 aperture.

While the pricing is not yet known, we can expect Motorola to launch these two phones at the MWC 2020 next month.
