The Lava Agni 3 is now official in the Indian market, and this is the successor to the Lava Agni 2 which was launched last year with a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset, a 120Hz curved AMOLED display, a glass back 66W fast charging, and more for ₹21,999. The Agni 3 starts at ₹20,999, and even though it is cheaper than its predecessor, the phone offers some significant upgrades.
The main USP of this phone is its design. Like its predecessor, the Lava Agni 3 has a premium glass back design with a matte finish. This time, Lava did something unheard of in this price segment. The phone has a secondary display on the rear, similar to the flagship Xiaomi 11 Ultra, which was launched in 2021. There are three cameras on the rear. The frame is plastic, and there is a curved display on the front with a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera.
The phone has a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. There is an extra button on the right, which can be mapped to different functions. The phone is IP64-certified.
Coming to the specifications, the Lava Agni 3 has a 6.78-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED display with 1200 nits peak brightness and a 10-bit color depth. The secondary display on the rear is a 1.74-inch AMOLED. This secondary display can be used for taking pictures from the rear camera, receiving calls, quick replies, notifications, music controls, recorder, stopwatch, and more.
Under the hood, the phone is using the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The main difference between Dimensity 7300 & 7300X is the support for dual displays. On the AnTuTu benchmark, the phone scores over 700,000 points, and this chipset is built on the 4nm process. For better thermals, there is a 5000mm square vapor chamber.
Speaking of cameras, the phone has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.55” 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the telephoto camera has an 8MP sensor with 3x optical zoom. For selfies, the phone has a 16MP sensor.
The phone has a 5,000mAh battery and supports 66W fast charging. As for the software, the phone runs on Android 14 out of the box, and the phone will get three OS updates.
Lava Agni 3 comes in two colors – Pristine Glass, and Heather Glass. The phone will be available in two storage options and here is the pricing –
- 8GB + 128GB (Without Charger) – ₹20,999
- 8GB + 128GB (With Charger) – ₹22,999
- 8GB + 256GB (With Charger) – ₹24,999
It is good to see that instead of removing the charger from the box altogether, Lava is offering a choice to get the phone with or without the charger. But still, ₹2000 extra for a charger in the box does not seem like a good deal. The better option would be to get the base model without charger and then invest up to ₹1,000 in a good charger.
