Release Date
February 4, 2022
Price
$299

It started in February 2020 when Moto G Stylus went official as the first phone under this new series of Moto G phones with a stylus. It was a $299 phone with the Snapdragon 665 SOC, a 4,000mAh battery, and a 6.4-inch LCD. Then last year, we got the Moto G Stylus 2021, which had an even bigger display at 6.8-inch and a faster Snapdragon 678 SOC for the same $299 price tag. We also got the Moto G Stylus 5G last year, which, as the name suggests, was a phone with 5G support, thanks to the Snapdragon 480G. That phone was priced at $399.

Now, Motorola launched the Moto G Stylus 2022, and this is a 3rd gen Moto G Stylus device with notable improvements over the Moto G Stylus 2021. As the name suggests, it isn’t a 5G phone.

Starting with the display first, the size remains the same at 6.8-inch, and it is still an LCD, not an AMOLED. But this time, the phone has a 90Hz LCD instead of a normal 60Hz one. The hole punch in the middle houses a 16MP selfie shooter.

Under the hood, there’s the MediaTek Helio G88 SOC that is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The storage is also expandable via a microSD card of up to 512GB. The battery size is 5,000mAh, and there is support for normal 10W charging only. Android 11 runs out of the box.

As for the cameras, Moto G Stylus 2022 has a triple camera setup on the back, where the primary camera has a 50MP shooter with an f/1.9 aperture lens. There is a second 8MP ultrawide camera and a third 2MP macro camera. There is support for 1080p 60fps video recording. The phone does have a 3.5mm headphone jack, and like previous phones under this series, the Moto G Stylus 2022 has a dedicated slot to keep the stylus.

Well, compared to the Moto G Stylus 2021, there is a high-refresh-rate panel this time, a bigger battery (5000mAh vs. 4000mAh), Helio G88 (vs. Snapdragon 678), and a 50MP camera (vs. 48MP). In terms of pricing, Motorola has kept the price the same as the last two generations, i.e., $299. In the US, the phone is up for pre-order at the moment, with the sale starting on the 17th of February.
