Asus Zenfone V Launched with Snapdragon 820 – Verizon Exclusive

Asus recently launched some Zenfone 4 series devices and each of them is for different types of users. The Zenfone 4 is a mid-ranger with Snapdragon 630/660 whereas the Zenfone 4 Pro is a high-end device with Snapdragon 835 processor. There are also Zenfone 4 Selfie and Selfie Pro that were launched in India a couple of days back. Today, the company has made another Zenfone device official, and this time, it’s the Asus Zenfone V. Don’t confuse with ‘V’ and ‘5’ as this is normal alphabet ‘V’ and not the Roman number like iPhone ‘X.’ Now the thing is that the phone is Verizon Exclusive, so the letter ‘V’ fits pretty well.

Normally, carrier exclusive phones just include the name of the carrier printed on it, but the Asus Zenfone V is an entirely new device from the company, with the model number V520KL. Let’s have a look at the specifications of the phone.

The Zenfone V features a 5.2-inch Full-HD AMOLED display with the True2life technology, Gorilla Glass, and 178-degree wide viewing angle. Under the hood, Snapdragon 820 powers the phone which is an octa-core chip clocked at 2.2GHz. It is weird that Asus is using a year old chipset for its latest smartphone. As for the GPU, the phone has Adreno 530. There is 4GB RAM with 32GB storage, and the storage can be expanded using a microSD card up to 256GB. There is a 3,000mAh battery with PowerDelivery 2.0 via USB Type-C Port.

Coming to the cameras, the Asus Zenfone V packs a 23MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, Autofocus, Laser Autofocus, 4-axis, 4 stops Optical Image Stabilization and Dual-LED flash. The Asus PixelMaster camera app is packed with a ton of features and modes like –

  • Back Light (HDR)
  • Low Light
  • Manual (for DSLR-like camera detail settings)
  • Real-Time Beautification
  • Super Resolution (for up to 4X resolution photos)
  • Night
  • Portrait
  • Photo Effect
  • Selfie Panorama
  • GIF Animation
  • Panorama Selfie
  • Miniature
  • Time Rewind
  • Smart Remove
  • All Smiles
  • Slow Motion
  • Time Lapse

On the front, there is an 8MP camera with f/2.0 aperture. The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with ZenUI 3.0. The phone has a lass back and only one color option, i.e., Sapphire Black.  The retail price of the device is $384 on Verizon. A decent (not great) pricing for a phone with Snapdragon 820 chip!
