At its global launch event, Xiaomi launched a lot of new devices that include some new smartphones. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite and Mi 11 Lite 5G are the two phones launched at the event. As the name suggests, these are the toned-down versions of the flagship Mi 11. Some of the notable features include 700-series SOCs from Qualcomm, a 90Hz AMOLED panel, 33W fast charging, 64 Megapixel camera, Stereo speakers, etc.
Design-wise, both the phones are the same, and they look similar to the Mi 11 from the rear as there is a similar-looking triple camera setup. While Mi 11 had a curved panel, the Mi 11 Lite & Mi 11 Lite 5G have a flat-screen with a hole-punch cutout placed on the top left corner. There is no headphone jack, so the only port is the Type-C port for charging. You do get a Type-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box, though. Speaking of content in the box, Xiaomi will ship the phones with a 33W Adapter in the box.
There are some really nice color options. Mi 11 Lite comes in Boba Black, Bubblegum Blue, and Peach Pink, whereas the Mi 11 Lite 5G in Truffle Black, Mint Green, and Citrus Yellow.
The display on both these phones is almost the same. It is a 6.55-inch AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch-sampling-rate, and Full-HD+ resolution. One difference is that while the display on Mi 11 Lite supports HDR10, the one on Mi 11 Lite 5G supports HDR10+. There is Gorilla Glass 5 in the case of the Mi 11 Lite, but the Mi 11 Lite 5G gets the goodness of Gorilla Glass 6. The phones are 6.81mm thick, but the Mi 11 Lite 5G is 2 grams heavier than the Mi 11.
The biggest difference between the two comes in the form of the chipset. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G has the 5nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G, announced this month. On the other hand, the Mi 11 Lite has Snapdragon 732G, not a 5G SOC. Both the phones have LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
The cameras on the rear are the same on these two devices. The Mi 11 Lite and Mi 11 Lite 5G pack a triple camera setup on the back that includes a primary 64 Megapixel sensor with f/1.79 aperture lens, a secondary 8 Megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 5 Megapixel TeleMacro camera. While the Mi 11 Lite 5G has a 20 Megapixel camera for selfies, the Mi 11 Lite has a 16 Megapixel selfie camera. Since the chipsets are different, Mi 11 Lite 5G supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, something the Mi 11 Lite doesn’t. Both phones get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and NFC support.
Finally, both have a 4,250mAh battery and support 33W fast charging. Some other features include Stereo speakers, Z-Axis linear motor, Hi-res Audio, MIUI 12, etc.
Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite comes in two storage options – 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. The starting price for the European market is EUR 299. Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite 5G comes in 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB variants and the starting price is EUR 369.
