By now, it is not a secret anymore that this year, we are getting the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and also the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. We do not know what folks over at Qualcomm were smoking when deciding these names, but it is what it is. But it looks like we are getting a couple more flagship chipsets from the brand.

As per Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm is going to launch at least two more flagship chipsets, both being part of the 8 Gen 5 series. The first chipset is named the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Pro with the part number SM8845 Pro. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which is already official, had the part number SM8845.
The name of the other SOC is not yet confirmed, but it has the part number SM8850Q. For comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has the part number SM8850.

The source did not reveal the specifications of these two chipsets, but both are built on the 3nm process.
The source did share the specifications of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Yes, there is a ‘Pro’ version of the ‘Elite’ chipset.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 has the part number SM8950, and it is built on the 2nm process. There is an octa-core CPU with a 2 + 3 + 3 core configuration. The CPU features the new generation Oryon CPU cores, shared 16MB L2 cache, an Adreno 845 GPU, LPDDR5X RAM support, and 12MB graphics memory (GMEM).
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro with the part number SM8975 is also built on the 2nm process. Compared to the non-Pro version, it has the Adreno 850 GPU, a higher 18MB GMEM, support for LPDDR6 and LPDDR5X RAM, and a higher peak performance.
So, while the 8 Elite Gen 6 has a balance of performance and efficiency, the 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is focused more on performance.
It looks like Qualcomm looked at MediaTek’s portfolio of 8000 and 9000 series flagship chipsets and decided to launch not one or two but four new flagship chipsets this year.
Digital Chat Station also said that the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, which is launching in the coming months, is also built on the 2nm process and outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, especially when it comes to the GPU performance.
