In April last year, Vivo launched its first foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold. It featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC, an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor for both displays, a 120Hz E5 AMOLED panel on the outside and inside, and more. Later in September, the company launched the Vivo X Fold+, featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SOC, a slightly bigger battery, faster wireless charging, and more. The company has launched its third foldable phone, the Vivo X Fold 2.
The phone has a teardrop hinge design & the diameter of the hinge droplet is 5mm, resulting in a 40% improvement in flatness compared to the previous generation. This improved hinge is more durable and lightweight than the previous generation. An alert slider is on the side to quickly mute or unmute the device. This is also the first foldable phone to feature Wireless lossless Hi-Fi support.
As mentioned above, the hinge is lighter than the last generation, so the overall weight of the phone is 33g lighter. The phone is also 2mm slimmer than the previous generation.
As for the display specs, the folding display has an 8.03-inch E6 LTPO 4.0 AMOLED display with a 2160×1916 pixels resolution, HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision, 1800 nit peak brightness, and up to 120Hz refresh rate. The external display is a 6.53-inch E6 AMOLED with up to 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, 1600 nit peak brightness, and 2520×1080 pixels resolution. There is an under-display fingerprint scanner for both displays & it is an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, not an optical one.
The chipset is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. For better thermals, there is a Vapor Chamber with a heat dissipation area of 2558mm², bigger than last year.
Speaking of cameras, Vivo X Fold 2 has three rear cameras. The primary camera has a 50MP Sony IMX866v sensor with OIS, the ultrawide camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor, and the 2X telephoto camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor. Both displays have a 16MP camera in the hole punch cutout for selfies.
The ZEISS branding is also on the back, so some extra ZEISS-specific camera features exist. Vivo added its V2 chip to this phone for even better camera performance.
Vivo X Fold 2 has a 4,800mAh battery and supports 120W wired + 50W wireless charging. Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box with OriginOS on top.
Vivo X Fold 2 comes in three colors, and here is the pricing for the Chinese market –

- 12GB + 512GB – ¥9999 (~$1450)
