The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset was announced in September 2022, and for almost two years, it remained the most powerful chipset under the 6-series. Well, the streak has come to an end as Qualcomm has introduced a new chipset under this series, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is a slightly upgraded version of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and is now the most powerful 6-series SOC.

The SOC is built on the 4nm process, but it is not yet confirmed whether it is based on Samsung’s 4nm process or TSMC’s. There is an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHz. For comparison, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 had the same core configuration, but the performance cores were clocked at up to 2.2GHz. This CPU configuration is similar to the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, with the only difference being the clock speeds of the efficiency cores (1.8GHz vs 1.95GHz).
The GPU is the Adreno 710, the same as the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 & 7s Gen 2. The chipset supports LPDDR5 RAM, up to 120Hz Full-HD+ displays, 4K 30fps video recording, WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.
On the official website, Qualcomm claims 10% better CPU and 30% better GPU performance over the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. The AI performance is also improved by 20%.
We should see some devices powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset in the coming months.
