Redmi Note 7S with 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor launching in India on May 20

Xiaomi is all set to launch another Redmi Note device in India which would be a small upgrade to the Redmi Note 7 which is currently selling at a starting price of Rs 9,999 in India. It is not any new phone from the brand. It is the Chinese Redmi Note 7 that has a 48 Megapixel primary rear camera having Samsung’s GM1 sensor. So, it isn’t having an IMX 586 sensor like Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Still, since it has a 48 Megapixel rear camera, expect a better camera performance compared to the 12MP camera on Redmi Note 7 available in India. The post from the brand on Mi Forum says –

We know that you love Redmi Note series, and it shows in numbers, Redmi Note 7 series has already sold 2Mn+ units since its launch in March. So we have decided to get you both #RedmiNote as well as #48MP in our upcoming Redmi Note 7S.

Except for the rear camera, the specifications and the design remain the same as the regular Redmi Note 7. So, the Redmi Note 7S has a 6.3-inch IPS LCD with a Dot Notch & Gorilla Glass 5, Snapdragon 660 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, 3/4/6GB RAM, 32/64/128GB ROM, 4,000mAh battery, USB Type-C port & glass back.

The primary rear camera has a 48 Megapixel Samsung GM1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture & 0.8µm pixel size. There is a secondary 5MP depth sensor. On the front, the Redmi Note 7S has a 13MP f/2.2 camera.

It would be interesting to see at what price Xiaomi launches the Redmi Note 7S in India since the Note 7 starts at Rs 9,999 & it’s Rs 13,999 for the Redmi Note 7 Pro.
