The Redmi K50 Ultra was launched in August last year, featuring the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, an under-display fingerprint scanner (the first for a K50 series device), a 12-bit 1.5K OLED display, 108MP camera, 120W charging, and more at ¥2999 (~$413). Today, the Redmi K60 Ultra was launched in China, and the phone follows the footsteps of its predecessor, that is, it offers high-end specifications at a low price.
Interestingly, the starting price of the K60 Ultra is lower than the starting price of the K50 Ultra, even though it brings some notable upgrades.
Redmi K60 Ultra comes in three colors – Black, Green & White. The differentiating factor is the camera module design compared to other phones under the K60 series. The black option has a carbon fiber pattern underneath the rear glass panel. There is a stereo speaker setup, an IR blaster, a Type-C port, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and an X-axis linear motor.
Performance-wise, the Redmi K60 Ultra has the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ chipset, the latest and most powerful flagship chip by MediaTek. It is built on the TSMC’s 2nd generation 4nm process and features an octa-core CPU clocked at up to 3.35GHz and an Immortalis-G715 MC11 GPU. The phone has up to 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
The battery size and charging speed are the same as the K50 Ultra – a 5,000mAh unit supporting 120W wired charging. There are Xiaomi’s Surge P1 & Surge G1 chipsets under the hood for charging and battery management.
The display is a 6.67-inch 12-bit 1.5K OLED (2712×1220 pixels) with Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and ZREAL support. The refresh rate is up to 144Hz, but Redmi says 144Hz kicks in only in the supported games. So, most of the time, the display will be at a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel has a peak brightness of 2600 nit and supports 2880Hz UHF PWM dimming.
Let’s discuss the cameras. Redmi K60 Ultra has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.49″ 54MP Sony IMX800 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture lens and OIS support. The ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. The selfie camera has a 20MP Sony IMX596 sensor. The phone supports 8K video recording up to 24fps from the primary camera.
Finally, the phone runs on Android 13-based MIUI 14.
