Two weeks after the global launch, the Redmi 9 launched in China today & while the phone launched at €149 in Spain, it starts at just 799 Yuan or €100 in China.
This is a budget offering from the brand & for this price, it offers some impressive specs that include the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, a Quad camera setup, a 5,020mAh battery, 18W Charging support, & more.
The phone comes with a textured back panel for better grip & the Quad camera layout has a circular design around it. The fingerprint scanner is also there on the back. The USB Type-C port is there on the bottom alongside the speaker grill & the 3.5mm headphone jack.
The display on the front has a Waterdrop notch & it is a 6.53-inch Full-HD+ LCD panel with 400nit brightness. The display also has the TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification. Under the hood, Redmi 9 has the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset that features an octa-core CPU & Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. There is 4/6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 64/128GB expandable storage.
The Quad camera setup on the back includes a primary 13 Megapixel sensor paired with an 8 Megapixel ultrawide, a 5 Megapixel macro, and a 2 Megapixel depth sensor. There is an 8 Megapixel camera for selfies. The rear camera can shoot up to 1080p 30fps videos.
Finally, there is a 5,020mAh battery & support for 18W Fast Charging. But, you have to buy the 18W charger separately since in the box, you get a 10W adapter. Android 10 based MIUI 11 runs out of the box.
In China, Redmi 9 comes in three storage options & four colors – Carbon Black, Neon Blue, Green, and Lotus Root Powder (Translated from Chinese). Here is the pricing for China –
