Xiaomi launched the all-new Redmi 9 today & for a starting price of just €149 (for Spain), this device surely packs a punch. It has the MediaTek Helio G80 chipset, a Quad camera array, a huge 5,020mAh battery & more. As we know already, there are also the 9A & 9C, but those devices were not launched today by Xiaomi. Maybe they’re for specific markets only.
While the phone looks like yet another budget phone from the front with that waterdrop notch, the design on the back is pretty unique. It is like a combination of the design of Redmi Note 8 Pro & the Redmi K30. There is a circular design around the camera module & the rest of the back has a textured finish for better grip & also to avoid unnecessary fingerprints. On top of all of this, there is a gradient color finish.
There is a USB Type-C port placed on the bottom with the headphone jack & the phone also has an IR Blaster on the top. The fingerprint scanner is there on the back as well.
Redmi 9 has a 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel on the front, but instead of going for a 720p screen, Redmi went for a Full-HD+ panel, which is great for a budget phone. The display has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection & 400 nits brightness.
Under the hood, there is MediaTek Helio G80 chipset & for this price, it is an excellent choice. It is built on the 12nm FinFET technology & has two powerful Cortex-A75 cores clocked at up to 2.0GHz. There is also Mali-G52 MC2 GPU with 950MHz frequency.
The phone comes with either 3GB or 4GB LPDDR4X RAM & 32/64GB eMMC 5.1 storage.
Redmi 9 has a Quad camera setup on the back that includes a primary 13-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture lens, a secondary 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with 118-degree FOV, a 5 Megapixel macro camera & a 2 Megapixel depth sensor. The rear camera can shoot up to 1080p 30fps videos.
