Poco M3 is now official globally & it is the successor of the Poco M2 that launched in the Indian market a couple of months ago. You can grab the device for as low as $129 & for that price, the phone offers a huge 6,000mAH battery, a Full-HD+ display, 48 Megapixel camera, USB Type-C port & the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset. This year, we have seen Poco simply rebranding the already launched Redmi devices but the M3 is not a rebranded phone at all. With this launch, the company also announced that it is going Independent in the global market.
POCO M3 – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
The design is definitely one of the highlights of this phone. There is a textured finish on the rear that makes the device easy to grip & also reduces the fingerprints. There is a big rectangular module on the top portion that has the triple camera setup in it along with the Poco branding. This design reminds us of the design of OnePlus 8T Cyberpunk 2077 Edition. The fingerprint scanner is now on the right side & doubles as the power button.
The phone packs a USB Type-C port & also a 3.5mm headphone jack. That’s not it! There are stereo speakers on this device which is something we rarely see on budget phones. So there is one speaker on the bottom & the other on the top. There is also an IR Blaster on the top.
Ont the front, Poco M3 has a display with a waterdrop notch & a noticeable bottom bezel. It is a 6.53-inch LCD with Full-HD+ resolution & on top is the Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Again, having a 1080p panel at this price is a big thing when most of the phones in this price range offer a 720p display. On top of all that, there is Widevine L1 certification as well.
Under the hood, M3 packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset that is built on the 11nm manufacturing process & is paired with 4GB LPDR4X RAM & 64/128GB UFS 2.2 storage. Snapdragon 662 is a very power efficient chipset & this chip, paired with a huge 6,000mAh battery of the Poco M3, means that the battery performance of the Poco M3 is going to be superb. Since the phone supports 18W fast charging, you can top up the battery pretty fast. In the box, Poco provided a 22.5W Adapter.
Finally, speaking of the cameras on this phone, there are three of those on the rear. There is a primary 48 Megapixel camera paired with a 2 Megapixel macro & a 2 Megapixel Depth sensor. For comparison, the Poco M2 that launched in India has a Quad camera setup which includes an ultrawide angle camera as well. On the front, there is an 8 Megapixel camera.
Android 10 based MIUI 12 runs out of the box.
