In August 2018, Poco F1 launched, and it disrupted the whole smartphone market by offering impressive specs like the Snapdragon 845 SOC, liquid cooling, the same camera sensor as Pixel 3, a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 & more for a starting price of just Rs 21,000 or well under $300.
Today, Poco launched its flagship for 2020, the Poco F2 Pro. Just like the Poco F1, the F2 Pro launched at a very aggressive price & for that price, we are getting the Snapdragon 865 SOC, Quad cameras, 30W Fast Charging, a pop-up selfie camera & more.
POCO F2 PRO – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
The F2 Pro is not a different phone. In fact, it is the Redmi K30 Pro but with a different name for the global market. So, there is no difference in terms of the design except for the branding on the rear where the phone says “Poco” instead of “Redmi”, obviously.
Nevertheless, the design is gorgeous. There is a full-screen design on the front, and there is no notch or punch-hole for the selfie camera since it is placed in the pop-up mechanism. There is Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and the back.
On the back, the phone has a Quad camera setup placed vertically. The fingerprint scanner is under the display since it is an AMOLED panel. Unlike other flagships that are doing away with the headphone jack, the Poco F2 Pro does come with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and it is placed on top.
Just like the Poco F1, the F2 Pro features liquid cooling & it is more improved this time. Poco is calling it the Liquid Cool Technology 2.0. There are 10 heat sensors in the device & for keeping the temperature in control, there is multi-layer graphite that covers the battery and the motherboard, graphene that covers the 5G Modem and the CPU, and Super VC that does most of the cooling.
There is a Z-Axis linear motor for better haptic feedback.
It is a flagship for 2020, so there is no surprise that the SOC powering it is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SOC. Paired with it is LPDDR5 RAM & UFS 3.1 storage. So, this is the combination that we expect from every flagship of this year.
The Poco F2 Pro comes with a huge 4,700mAh battery & there is also 30W fast charging support which can charge the battery fully in just 63 minutes. Since there is Snapdragon 865 SOC, the F2 Pro comes with 5G, WiFi 6 & Super Bluetooth support.
Coming to other specs, the F2 Pro has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a screen-to-body ratio of 92.7%. Now, it isn’t a high-refresh-rate panel, so the refresh rate is 60Hz but, there is 180Hz touch-response rate. The max brightness is up to 1200 nits, so that’s impressive. The display comes with HDR10+ & Widewine L1 certification. Since it is an AMOLED panel, there is an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Android 10 runs out of the box with MIUI 11 on top, and this time as well, there is Poco Launcher 2.0, which comes with an app-drawer and a lot of extra features that are quite useful. And yes, Poco Launcher 2.0 isn’t just for the Poco devices as you can download and install it on your Android device via Google Play Store.
Finally, talking about the cameras on the Poco F2 Pro, there is a Quad camera setup on the rear. It includes a primary 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor paired with an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5 Megapixel Telemacro lens, and a 2 Megapixel depth sensor. For better night shots, there is Night Mode 2.0.
The 5 Megapixel Telemacro is pretty interesting because the F2 Pro is the first smartphone to have a telemacro camera that lets you go extremely close. There is a 20 Megapixel pop-up selfie camera.
Since the phone has a 64 Megapixel IMX686 sensor, it can shoot 8K videos as well, so that’s impressive.
