Redmi K30 Pro is now official in China & this time Redmi launched two phones – the vanilla K30 Pro & the K30 Pro Zoom. As the name shows, the K30 Pro ‘Zoom’ has some extra Zoom functionality, thanks to the telephoto camera (something that the vanilla K30 Pro lacks). It is the successor to the last year’s Redmi K20 Pro which was a very popular flagship of 2019 due to the sheer value of money it offered.
REDMI K30 PRO – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
The only area where we see a change in the design is on the rear. The front remains the same since there is a Full-Screen design just like the K20 Pro. This is something we aren’t going to see a lot this year since smartphone makers are now going for the punch-hole design on their flagships.
On the rear, there is a circular camera module that houses four cameras in it. Since there is an AMOLED panel, the fingerprint scanner is placed under the display. All the colour options feature a red-coloured power button, so that’s a nice touch. Redmi K30 Pro doesn’t skip the headphone jack as it is placed on the top. The USB Type-C port is there on the bottom alongside the SIM slot & the speaker grill.
Coming to the specifications, the Redmi K30 Pro comes with a 6.67-inch E3 AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and 180Hz touch-response rate. The max brightness is 800 nit & the peak brightness can go as high as 1200 nit. So it looks like Redmi focused more on the quality of the AMOLED panel instead of going for a high-refresh-rate screen.
Since it is a flagship, it is no surprise that the phone features Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 5G SOC, LPDDR5 RAM & UFS 3.1 storage (6GB + 128GB variant has LPDDR4X RAM & UFS 3.0 storage). There is a 4,700mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
Talking about the cameras now, the vanilla Redmi K30 Pro comes with a Quad camera setup that includes a primary 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor, a 13 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with 123-degree FOV, a 5 Megapixel ‘Telephoto’ Macro lens (50mm), and a 2 Megapixel depth sensor.
The K30 Pro Zoom skips the macro camera & has an 8 Megapixel telephoto lens in its place with 3X Optical Zoom, OIS, and 30X Digital Zoom. The 64MP rear camera can shoot 8K videos as well. Moreover, there is OIS for the primary camera as well. So, when it comes to differences between K30 Pro & K30 Pro Zoom, the only difference is in the camera department where the K30 Pro Zoom has Dual OIS & a telephoto camera.
Both phones feature a 20 Megapixel selfie camera.
Finally, Android 10 runs out of the box with MIUI 11 running on top.
