Xiaomi Poco F1 is the cheapest phone you can get with Snapdragon 845

Xiaomi never fails to surprise with its insane pricing and today, we saw the same thing with the Poco F1. Launched as the first device from the sub-brand Poco, the Xiaomi Poco F1 comes with the Snapdragon 845 and is the cheapest phone with this chipset that you can buy right now. With the starting price of Rs 20,999 or $300, the Poco F1 beats every Snapdragon 845-powered flagship regarding the pricing.

A smartphone priced so low must be having some cons, right? Well, the Poco F1 has a Polycarbonate back which is something we rarely see these days as every device feature a metal or glass panel. But except that, the Poco F1 features almost everything you want to see in a flagship device. There is a powerful processor, a huge battery, fast charging, stereo speakers, Fast Face recognition, USB Type-C port, nice set of cameras and more. The Poco F1 might just have killed every budget flagship launched this year.

Talking about the design, the Xiaomi Poco F1 has a notch on the front, but it is not like every other Android phone. The notch houses not only the front-facing camera and the earpiece, but also the Infrared Sensor for an accurate face scan. There is a big chin on the bottom, however. On the rear, the camera setup looks much different than what we have seen on this year’s Xiaomi devices. There is no longer an iPhone X-like camera setup. The phone has dual cameras and the fingerprint scanner placed on the rear. The back is mostly clean and has no Antenna lines.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 features all the ports including the 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB Type-C port. It is a shame that Xiaomi didn’t include the headphone jack in the Mi A2, which is priced lower than the Poco F1.

As for the specs, the Xiaomi Poco F1 has a 6.18-inch Full-HD+ display with a resolution of 2246 x 1080 and an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. It is not 19:9 because there is a big chin on the bottom. The company hasn’t mentioned any Gorilla Glass protection on the official site. Under the hood, there is a 2.8GHz Snapdragon 845 processor with the Adreno 630 GPU.

The phone also features Liquid Cool technology that is going to help while gaming heavily. The Poco F1 has three variants – 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM and 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM. It is worth mentioning that the storage is UFS 2.1, just like the Honor Play that has similar pricing.

Coming to the cameras, the Xiaomi Poco F1 has dual rear cameras that include a primary 12MP camera with f/1.9 aperture, dual pixel AF, and 1.4um pixels, along with a 5MP f/2.0 sensor for depth information. The rear camera features include AI Portrait Mode, HDR, Low Light Enhancement, AI Beautify, EIS, etc. On the front, there is a 20MP camera with AI Portrait Mode, Face Unlock and more.

The Poco F1 has a big 4,000mAh battery that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 via USB Type-C Port. Android Oreo is running out of the box with MIUI 9.6 on top. Xiaomi has tweaked the MIUI for Poco F1, and the phone has a new theme that lets the user have a ton of features like custom icon packs and more. As mentioned above, there are stereo speakers, which are always a nice thing to have on a phone.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 comes Graphite Black, Rosso Red, and Steel Blue. There is an Armoured Edition as well that features a Kevlar back and better build than the other variants. This is, however, is available in only 8GB + 256GB storage option.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 is a Flipkart Exclusive device in India, and the first sale of the phone will take place on August 29 on Mi.com and Flipkart. Here is the Indian pricing for all the variants –

  • 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM – Rs 20,999 | $300
  • 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM – Rs 23,999 | $343
  • 8GB RAM + 256GB ROM – Rs 28,999 | $415
