A couple of weeks after the China launch, the Oppo Reno series launched globally today, and the series includes three phones – The Reno, Reno 10X Zoom & the Reno 5G. All three phones feature a beautiful design with a unique pop-up selfie camera. The Reno 10X Zoom & Reno 5G are the high-end phones with features like 10X Hybrid Zoom, Snapdragon 855 processor, etc.
The regular Oppo Reno comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels & 93.1% screen-to-body ratio. The Reno 10X Zoom has a 6.6-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display with the same screen-to-body ratio. As we already know, there is a bezel-less & notch-less design, due to which there is a unique pop-up mechanism for the selfie camera.
There is a Pivot Rising Camera Design, and as you can see in the renders above, the pop-up mechanism lifts the front camera from one side while the other side remains tucked in. The front camera is the same on both the phones, i.e., a 16MP f/2.0 unit. But, it’s the rear camera setup that makes the Reno 10X Zoom different from the regular one.
The regular Oppo Reno has a dual camera setup that includes a primary 48 Megapixel f/1.7 camera paired with a 5 Megapixel secondary f/2.4 camera. The Oppo Reno 10X Zoom has the same primary 48 Megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture but gets a 13MP periscope-style telephoto camera with OIS, f/3.0 aperture, 6X Optical Zoom & 10X Hybrid Zoom. There is also a third 8MP wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture & OIS.
Coming to the performance, the Oppo Reno comes with a 10nm Snapdragon 710 processor & Adreno 616 GPU whereas the Reno 10X Zoom gets a 7nm Snapdragon 855 processor with Adreno 640 GPU. Both the phones come with 6/8GB RAM and 128/256GB storage. For better cooling, the Reno 10X Zoom features three cooling technologies – Cooling gel, triple graphite layering, and copper pipes.
The battery underneath the regular Oppo Reno is a 3,765mAh unit while the Reno 10X Zoom gets a bigger 4,065mAh battery. Both the phones support VOOC Flash Charge 3.0. For a better gaming experience, there are features like Game Space, Game Scene Recognition & Game Shock.
The regular Reno features the headphone jack, but it’s missing on the Reno 10X Zoom. Features like in-display fingerprint scanner & Stereo speakers are there for both the phones. Color OS 6.0 runs on both phones which is based on Android 9 Pie.
Apart from Reno and Reno 10X Zoom, the Oppo Reno 5G launched as well which, as the name suggests, supports 5G. Moreover, Oppo partnered with Swisscom (Switzerland), EE (UK), SingTel (Singapore), Telstra and Optus (Australia). The phone would be available from May.
Finally, let’s talk about pricing. The price of Oppo Reno (the regular one) starts at €500 while that of Reno 10X Zoom at €800. The Reno 5G is priced at €900. The regular Reno will be available from May 10 France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain & Poland. Similarly, the Reno 5G will be available in May. The Reno 10X Zoom, however, will arrive in early June.
