After the launch of the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion, Edge 50 Pro, and Edge 50 Ultra, the brand has launched a new phone in the Indian market under this series, the Motorola Edge 50. This phone sits between the Edge 50 Fusion & Edge 50 Pro in terms of the price and specifications. The price is ₹27,999, and for the price, the phone offers an impressive spec sheet, with just one downside.
Design-wise, the Edge 50 looks identical to the Edge 50 Pro with that curved display and a triple camera setup on the rear. The only difference is the placement of the LED flash and the color options. The phone is IP68 certified and has MIL-810H military-grade certification, meaning it can withstand extreme temperatures, shocks, vibrations, pressure, dust, etc.
The frame is made of metal, and there is Gorilla Glass 5 protection for the display. At 7.79mm, Motorola claims it is the slimmest phone with MIL-810H certification. The phone weighs 180g.
The phone has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and NFC.
The biggest downside of this phone is the chipset. It has the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 AE (Accelerated Edition) SOC, which scores almost 700,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmark. Now, the scores are not bad, but if you compare this with the competition, then the Edge 50 lags behind. Still, for those who are not hardcore gamers, this should not be an issue. The storage is UFS 2.2, and the RAM type is LPDDR4X.
The rest of the specifications are top-notch. The display is a 6.7-inch curved pOLED with a 1.5K resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate. The display supports HDR10+ and the peak HDR brightness is 1600 nits. The battery is 5,000mAh which is bigger than the 4,500mAh battery in the Edge 50 Pro.
The charging speed is 68W, and the phone also supports 15W wireless charging.
In terms of cameras, there is no compromise. The Motorola Edge 50 has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera uses a 50MP Sony LYT-700C sensor with OIS support. The ultrawide camera has a 13MP sensor, which takes macro shots too. Finally, the third camera has a telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and uses a 10MP sensor with OIS. For selfies, there is a 32MP sensor.
The phone can shoot 4K 30fps videos from the rear and front cameras.
Finally, the phone runs on Android 14 out of the box, and the company has promised two Android updates.
The phone comes in a single configuration – 8GB + 256GB. The color options are Jungle Green, Peach Fuzz, and Koala Grey. The price is ₹25,999 but after bank offers, you can get this phone for as low as ₹25,999.
