Nothing’s sub-brand CMF launched its first smartphone today, the CMF Phone 1. This is a budget phone with a focus on the design and software experience. One of the highlights of this phone is the customization options, something we rarely see in smartphones these days.

CMF Phone 1

The CMF Phone 1 comes in four color options – Black, Light Green, Blue, and Orange. The Orange & Blue colors feature a vegan leather finish on the rear panel. There are four visible screws on the back panel, and these are not here just for design. The back panel is detachable, so you can swap it with a different colored back panel if you want. And if you are wondering how to open the screws, the company offers a unique SIM ejector in the box that has a screwdriver at one end and the SIM ejector pin at the other end.

This is not it! On the bottom right corner, the CMF Phone 1 features a circular piece that is there for attaching various accessories, such as a phone stand, lanyard, and a card case.

The phone has a mono speaker, which is a big downside. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack and no NFC support.

Under the hood, the CMF Phone 1 has the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, which might sound like a successor to the Dimensty 7200, but it is not. It is more like a slightly better Dimensity 7050 SOC. The phone scores around 650,000 on the AnTuTu benchmark.

The battery is 5,000mAh and the phone supports 33W fast charging.

Speaking of the display, it is a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2000 nits peak brightness, and an under-display fingerprint sensor.

The camera setup on the rear includes a 50MP Sony sensor for the primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor for the secondary camera. For selfies, there is a 16MP sensor. The phone can shoot 4K videos at up to 30fps from the rear camera, and 1080p 60fps videos from the front camera.

Finally, the phone runs on NothingOS 2.6, based on Android 14. The phone will get two major Android updates.
