Black Shark 5 Pro is now official in China, and this is the highest-end gaming phone that the brand currently offers. It launched today alongside two other gaming phones named Black Shark 5 and Black Shark 5 RS. The Pro version gets the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC, and that is the most significant difference between this phone and the Black Shark 5 RS.

Design-wise, Black Shark 5 Pro gets a similar-looking camera module on the back, but the design on the rear is different than the Black Shark 5. The phone also lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack which is surprising because it is a phone for gamers.

There is a 6.67-inch Flexible OLED with Samsung’s E4 material, and it is a 10-bit FHD+ panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 720Hz touch-sampling rate. Under the hood, Black Shark 5 Pro has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC, LPDDR5 RAM (6400Mbps), and UFS 3.1 + SSD storage. The battery size is 4,650mAh, and there is support for 120W fast charging.

In terms of cameras, there is a 108MP Samsung HM2 sensor for the primary camera, a 13MP ultrawide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. There is support for 4K 60fps video recording. For selfies, there is a 16MP camera. For better thermal performance, Black Shark 5 Pro comes with a VC Liquid Cooling system based on an advanced “sandwich” 3D heat dissipation architecture.

The phone also tops the DXOMark Audio ranking for smartphones with a score of 86. The previous leader of this benchmark was the Black Shark 4S Pro/4 Pro, with a score of 81.

Black Shark 5 Pro comes in two colors and here is the pricing –

  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥4199 (~$662)
  • 12GB + 256GB – ¥4699 (~$740)
  • 16GB + 512GB – ¥5499 (~$866)
