Last year in August, Xiaomi launched Mi Pad 5 & Mi Pad 5 Pro in China with Snapdragon 860 & Snapdragon 870, respectively. Today, the Xiaomi Pad 5 launched in India, and this is the first Xiaomi tablet to launch in the Indian market since 2015.
In India, the price starts at ₹26,999, and if it was already not impressive pricing, Xiaomi also announced a discount of ₹2000 till the 7th of May, which brings the starting price down to ₹24,999. And even if that was not enough, you can avail ₹2000 instant discount using HDFC cards. So the minimum that you can spend on this tablet is ₹22,999, which is a mind-blowing price, considering the specs.
Xiaomi Pad 5 features a plastic back, but the frame is metallic. There are pogo pins on the side used to connect accessories such as the keyboard. The other side has a point to attach the stylus to be charged magnetically. The tablet has Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, and the power button is present on the top. There is a Type-C port on the bottom, but no 3.5mm headphone jack is present. It is just 6.85mm thin and weighs 511 grams.
Coming to the front, Xiaomi Pad 5 has an 11-inch 10-bit LCD with a WQHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Other display features include TrueColor, Dolby Vision, HDR10, and up to 240Hz touch-sampling rate. In short, there is no other tablet in this price segment that offers a better display than the Pad 5.
Under the hood, the tablet has Snapdragon 860 SOC paired with 6GB LPDDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. The battery size is 8,720mAh, and there is support for 33W fast charging. The company claims 0 to 100% charging in 91 minutes which is excellent. There is a 13MP camera on the back, whereas, on the front, there is an 8MP camera. The rear camera supports 4K 30fps video recording.
Finally, MIUI 13 for Pad runs out of the box.
Coming to the pricing, the Xiaomi Pad 5 comes in two storage options. Here is the price for India –
