Xiaomi Mi 10 5G launch in India set to happen on May 8th

Xiaomi Mi 10 was supposed to launch in India on March 31st, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Xiaomi postponed the launch. Today, Xiaomi announced that it would launch the Mi 10 5G in India on May 8th which means just a few days are now left for the launch. To no surprise, it is going to be an online event.

Xiaomi is launching its ‘Mi’ series flagship (not the Mi Mix) in India for the first time since 2016. The last time we got a Mi series flagship in India was in 2016 when the company launched Xiaomi Mi 5. Unfortunately, it didn’t perform as expected in the market and was outperformed by the competition like the OnePlus 3.

Anyways, the Xiaomi Mi 10 5G is expected to launch at a price above Rs 35,000 in India, and there is a tough competition as there are phones like the Realme X50 Pro and OnePlus 8 at that price.

Talking about the specs, the Mi 10 5G has a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. There is Snapdragon 865 5G SOC paired with 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256GB UFS 3.0 storage. The phone comes with a 4,780mAH battery, 30W fast wired charging and 30W Fast Wireless Charging.

The camera setup is pretty interesting. The Mi 10 5G has a Quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 108 Megapixel camera with OIS and 8K video recording, a 13 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2 Megapixel macro and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. There is a 20 Megapixel selfie camera.

While we can only guess what the pricing could be, it would be better if Xiaomi prices the phone under Rs 40,000 in India since most of the customers would definitely go for a OnePlus device instead of a Xiaomi flagship at a price over Rs 40,000.
