At an event in China today, Vivo launched its latest premium flagship, the Vivo NEX 3 5G. It is the third phone under the “NEX” lineup & perhaps the best looking phone that Vivo ever made. It is also the first phone to launch with a “Waterfall Screen” which means the screen is curved on the sides at almost 90-degrees. Moreover, there are high-end specs like Snapdragon 855+, 5G Support, 4,500mAh battery, 44W Fast Charging etc.

VIVO NEX 3 5G – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS

Talking about the design, there is only one word to describe that & it’s “Gorgeous”. On the rear, there is a circular camera module housing three cameras & the LED flash. The main USP of the phone is that display on the front which, as mentioned above, is a “Waterfall Screen”. So, the display seems to melt over the sides, thanks to the almost 90-degree curved edges.

The display on the front is a 6.89-inch Full-HD+ Super AMOLED panel with a mind-blowing 99.6% screen-to-body ratio, the highest on any phone in the World. This is all due to those curved sides. While there is a physical power button on the top, there are no physical volume rockers. The curved sides of the display are tweaked in such a way that you can control the volume like the real volume rockers.

Vivo calls it “Touch Sense”. For better haptic feedback, there is something called X-Axis Haptic.

Under the hood, there is Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ SOC, something that we saw so far in gaming phones like Asus ROG Phone 2 & the Black Shark 2 Pro. There are two versions of the phone – 4G & 5G. The Vivo NEX 3 5G features a 5G Modem, obviously. There is 8/12GB RAM & 256GB storage.

One thing that’s amazing about the NEX 3 5G is the presence of a headphone jack. So yes, the company didn’t ditch the headphone jack is this phone as it is placed on top. On the rear, there is a triple camera setup that includes a primary 64 Megapixel shooter with Samsung GW1 sensor, a secondary 13MP Wide-Angle camera & a 13MP telephoto camera.

The front camera is placed in a pop-up style mechanism & it is a 16MP shooter with F/2.0 aperture.

There is a big 4,500mAh battery underneath & the device supports the 44W Fast Charging via USB Type-C port. FunTouch OS 9.1 based on Android 9 Pie runs out of the box.
