Sony Xperia 8 Lite launched with Snapdragon 630 & 2870mAh battery

In October last year, Sony launched the Xperia 8 smartphone in the Japanese market with specs including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 630, a 21:9 display, Dual cameras, & IP65/68 rating. Well today, Sony Xperia 8 Lite launched in Japan which, as the name suggests, is a cheaper version of the Xperia 8. The phone is priced at 29,800 JPY which translates to around $280. It is worth mentioning that the Xperia 8 of last year launched at 54,000 JPY or $500.

SONY XPERIA 8 LITE – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS

The design is the same as Xperia 8 since the Xperia 8 Lite has a premium design including Gorilla Glass 6 on the front & back and a metal frame. There is a side-facing fingerprint scanner, a dual-camera setup on the rear & a tall 21:9 display on the front. The USB Type-C port is present on the bottom & there is a 3.5mm headphone jack as well. The phone is also IP68 dust & water-resistant.

The display on the front is a 6-inch LCD panel with Full-HD+ resolution & under the hood, the Xperia 8 Lite has Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 chipset. There is 4GB RAM, 64GB storage & expandable storage up to 512GB. The battery underneath is a 2,870mAh unit.

The dual-camera setup on the rear includes a primary 12 Megapixel shooter with f/1.8 aperture & a secondary 8 Megapixel telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture. The camera on the front is an 8 Megapixel unit.

Well, compared to the Sony Xperia 8, the Xperia 8 Lite has almost the same specs except for the battery size. The battery is 2,870mAh in case of Xperia 8 Lite which is slightly bigger than the 2,760mAh battery of Xperia 8. It is a shame that this phone runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box!
