Sony Xperia 1 IV renders are here and they reveal a familiar design

The phone still has a 3.5mm headphone jack

Last year, we got the Sony Xperia 1 III which had a telephoto lens with a variable focal length. The telephoto lens offered a 70-105mm focal length which meant 2.9X-4.4X Optical Zoom. It was a premium flagship phone with Snapdragon 888 SOC, a 4K HDR 120Hz OLED, and more. The brand is preparing to launch this year’s premium flagship named the Sony Xperia 1 IV. Today, the renders of the phone were shared by OnLeaks in collaboration with Giznext.

The first thing that these renders reveal is that the design remains the same as the Xperia 1 III. So, there is a flat panel on the front, a triple camera setup (plus a TOF sensor) on the back, flat sides, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone even retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. Design-wise, this looks like a typical premium Sony device.

The specifications are not yet known, but we do know the dimensions of it. Sony Xperia 1 IV measures 164.7 x 70.8 x 8.3mm, and when we include the camera bump, the thickness becomes 9.5mm. One missing thing here is a dedicated Google Assistant button on the side. So now, all that you get are volume rockers, a power button + fingerprint scanner, and the camera shutter button.

And finally, since it is a premium flagship from Sony for 2022, we won’t be surprised if it comes with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC. There were some rumors of an in-display selfie camera, but as these renders show, that will not happen. It is said that this time, Sony has upgraded fast charging to 45W, so that’s an improvement over last year’s 30W PD charging.

Well, we will surely get to know more about this phone in the coming days, so stay tuned.
