Alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Samsung launched its premium foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 5. It is the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, and for the same starting price, the phone has a brighter display, a better hinge, and better performance. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 has an upgraded “Flex Hinge.” This lets the phone fold flat without any noticeable gap.

There is no upgrade in the design. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 has an Armor Aluminum frame & Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the outside. There is a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a triple camera setup on the rear, an under-display selfie camera on the inside, IPX8 certification, S Pen support, and stereo speakers.

The battery size is the same at 4,400mAh, and so is the charging speed. The triple cameras are the same, too – a 50MP primary camera with OIS, a 10MP 3X telephoto camera with OIS, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The cover display has a 10MP selfie camera, whereas the foldable display has a 4MP under-display camera.

The cover display is the same – a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The foldable display is the same, too, except for the peak brightness. It is a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 2176 x 1812 pixels resolution and an adaptive refresh rate of 1-120Hz. The peak brightness is upgraded to 1750 nits compared to 1200 nits last year.

Thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, the performance is upgraded.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 starts at $1,799, and the base variant has 256GB storage.
