The much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is now officially announced, and this is a premium mid-range device from the brand. This is the Galaxy S21 FE successor, launched last year with Snapdragon 888 / Exynos 2100 chipset. The Galaxy S23 FE brings some notable upgrades at a lower price than the S21 FE. While the Galaxy S21 FE was launched at $699, the Galaxy S23 FE starts at $599.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

Design-wise, the Galaxy S23 FE inherits the design language of the Galaxy S23 series. There is a triple camera setup on the rear with no camera island, a rounded frame, and a flat display on the front with a hole punch cutout in the center.

One thing to note is the bezels on the front. They are not as slim as the bezels on the Galaxy S23. The bottom chin on the S23 FE looks bigger than the one on the S21 FE, at least in the renders.

Samsung also updated the build materials this time, as the Galaxy S23 FE has Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back, compared to the plastic back of the S21 FE. The frame is made of aluminum, and the phone has an IP68 rating. Finally, there is wireless charging support and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

Speaking of specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE has a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, the same panel as the Galaxy S21 FE. The battery size is the same at 4,500mAh, and so is the charging speed – 25W wired and 15W wireless.

As for the cameras, the ultrawide and telephoto cameras are the same as last year – a 12MP ultrawide with 123-degree FOV and an 8MP 3x Telephoto camera. The primary camera is upgraded this time, so there is no longer a 12MP sensor. Instead, Samsung went for a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 lens. The primary camera has OIS. The selfie camera has a 10MP sensor, compared to a 32MP sensor on the S21 FE.

Another upgrade is in the performance. Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 chipset, depending on the region. Both these chipsets are known for their thermal issues, so it would be interesting to see how the Galaxy S23 FE handles the thermals. The phone has 8GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB internal storage.

Finally, the phone runs on Android 13 out of the box.
