The first members of the Redmi K100 series are all set to be unveiled in the Chinese market on the 11th of August, and they are the Redmi K100 Pro and Redmi K100 Pro Max. In typical Redmi fashion, the brand has started sharing the key details on Weibo, including the official renders of the phones.
These are the successors to last year’s Redmi K90 Pro series devices.
Starting with the design, the Redmi K100 Pro series looks identical to the K90 series, where we have a similar-looking triple camera module on the back with the Bose-powered rear speaker unit. The design of the camera module is slightly different for the Redmi K100 Pro Max, where one of the cameras has a periscope telephoto lens. Also, the speaker unit on the rear camera module looks different on both phones.
As evident from the antenna lines on the sides, there is a metal frame. The brand has shared two color options of the K100 series so far – green and red. The red color is similar to the rumored ‘Dark Cherry’ color option of the iPhone 18 series that is launching in the coming months. On the front, there is a flat display with a center hole punch cutout.
As for the specifications, the Redmi K100 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, but Redmi is calling this the Gen 5V. This is a slightly less powerful version of the original Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and as per Digital Chat Station, the performance benchmark shows that this chipset offers almost 90% the performance of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
The displays on the two phones are slightly different. The Redmi K100 Pro features a 6.59-inch display, whereas the Redmi K100 Pro Max has a larger 6.9-inch 1.5K panel. Both phones use an M11 OLED panel with local peak brightness of 4500 nits and a 185Hz refresh rate. The panel has an instantaneous touch-sampling rate of 4800Hz. Redmi says the power consumption is also lower than other 1.5K OLED panels.
Speaking of the battery, the Redmi K100 Pro has a big 8,580mAh battery, whereas the Redmi K100 Pro Max gets an even bigger 9,070mAh cell. The Redmi K100 Pro supports 100W fast wired charging, 50W fast wireless charging, 27W fast reverse wired charging, and 22.5W fast reverse wireless charging. We expect the charging numbers to be the same for the K100 Pro Max.
Finally, the Redmi K100 Pro has a 200MP sensor for the primary rear camera with OIS support. There is an ultrawide camera and a telephoto camera (with telephoto macro feature) alongside the main sensor. As mentioned above, the Redmi K100 Pro Max gets a periscope telephoto camera.
