Samsung has launched a new mid-range phone in the Indian market, the Galaxy M55. As the name suggests, this is the successor to the Galaxy M54 of last year, launched with an Exynos 1380 chipset, a 120Hz AMOLED display, and a 6,000mAh battery. The Samsung Galaxy M55 brings some interesting features, and going by the specifications, this could be one of the best value for money Samsung phones this year.
Design-wise, there is nothing special. The Samsung Galaxy M55 has the same design as other Samsung phones, which means a vertically placed triple camera setup on the rear and a flat display with a hole punch cutout in the center. There are two colors – Light Green & Denim Black. The phone features a stereo speaker setup, but there is no 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is pretty slim at 7.8mm and weighs around 180g. There is NFC support and an under-display fingerprint sensor.
Under the hood, the Galaxy M55 has the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, a mid-range chipset built on Samsung’s 4nm process. We are getting an M5x series device with a Qualcomm chipset after more than two years, the last phone being the Galaxy M52. There is LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
The battery is 5,000mAh, smaller than last year’s Galaxy M54. But, while the battery size has reduced, the charging speed has bumped up to 45W, versus 25W last year.
The display is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus with a Full-HD+ resolution and up to 120Hz refresh rate.
Speaking of cameras, the Samsung Galaxy M55 has three cameras on the rear. The primary camera has a 50MP sensor with OIS, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. For selfies, the phone has a 50MP sensor.
Finally, Android 14-based OneUI 6.1 runs out of the box, and Samsung has promised four Android updates for this phone.
