The Samsung Galaxy M33 was launched in April last year in the Indian market, and the USP of that phone was its performance and battery. The Galaxy M33 had a 6,000mAh battery and a 5nm Exynos 1280 chipset which, the company claimed, was the best 5nm SOC at that price segment. Today, Samsung launched the successor in India, the Galaxy M34. The phone retains the predecessor’s battery and SOC and offers some extra stuff. The Samsung Galaxy M34 starts at ₹19,999.
Design-wise, from the rear, the Galaxy M34 looks like any other Samsung phone launched this year. There are three cameras stacked vertically and no camera island. The fingerprint sensor is on the side and doubles as the power button. The phone has a single downward-firing speaker alongside the 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB Type-C port.
The front design is not appealing since the Galaxy M34 has a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera and a big bottom bezel. So, the front design makes it look like some sub-10K phone. Also, the phone has a polycarbonate build.
The display is one of the highlights of this device. It is a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Nowadays, it is rare to see a Samsung phone with an AMOLED display under 20K in India. The peak brightness is 1000 nits, and the panel has Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Under the hood, Samsung Galaxy M34 has the same Exynos 1280 chipset as the predecessor. This 5nm SOC is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. The battery size is the same at 6,000mAh, and the charging speed at 25W.
Camera-wise, the phone has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 50MP sensor with OIS support, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor. There is support for 4K video recording via the primary rear camera up to 30fps. As for the selfie camera, you can shoot up to 1080p 30fps videos.
Finally, Samsung Galaxy M34 runs on Android 13-based OneUI 5.1 and will get four major Android OS updates and security patches for the next five years.
