A couple of new phones under the Galaxy A series are now official. These are the Samsung Galaxy A53 and the Galaxy A33. Both of these are mid-range phones, and there are some things that are common between them, such as the SOC, the battery, charging, water resistance rating, design, software, etc. Another thing that is common for both phones is that they won’t come with a charger in the box. So after flagships, now the companies have started removing chargers from the boxes of even the mid-range phones.

Samsung Galaxy A53 & Galaxy A33

With all the leaks so far, there is hardly anything to talk about now as we know everything. But just to recap, both the phones have a similar design that includes a rectangular camera housing with a Quad camera array in it, an under-display fingerprint scanner, and a plastic build. One thing that is different is the front design. While the Galaxy A53 has a hole punch in the center, the Galaxy A33 has a notch.

Both phones have IP67 certification, a 5,000mAh battery, support for 25W fast charging, and run on Android 12 out of the box with OneUI 4.1 on top. There is the same SOC under the hood, and while Samsung did not mention the name, we know that it is the Exynos 1280 SOC.

The major differences between the two are the displays and cameras. Samsung Galaxy A53 has a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED with FHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the Galaxy A33 has a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED with a 90Hz refresh rate.

In terms of the cameras, the Galaxy A53 has a primary 64MP sensor with OIS, 12MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the other hand, the Galaxy A33 has a 48MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is a 32MP selfie camera in the case of A53, whereas a 13MP camera in the case of A33.

And well, that’s pretty much it. Both phones have Samsung Knox security, support 5G, and Bluetooth 5.1. There is 6GB or 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage. The storage is expandable via a microSD card of up to 1TB.

Samsung also announced that these two phones would get Android OS updates for the next four years and security patches for the next five years. This is definitely huge!

Speaking of the pricing and availability, the Galaxy A53 starts at $450 / £400 / €450 whereas the Galaxy A33 at £330 / €370. In the US, the Galaxy A53 can be bought via various carriers, starting April 1st. The Galaxy A33 will be available starting April 22nd.
