Redmi’s gaming phone will launch on the 27th of April

It is reportedly powered by Dimensity 1200 SOC!

So Redmi is stepping into the gaming smartphone market as the company is all set to launch its first gaming phone on the 27th of April in China. A quick translation of the company’s posts on Weibo suggests that it will be named “Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition,” so this means it isn’t coming under some new series but instead is a part of the Redmi K40 series, which has already seen a lot of phones launching under it.

A teaser posted by the company reveals that the phone has shoulder buttons similar to what we have seen on gaming phones from other brands like Asus and Lenovo. Also, there is a slider on the side that activates or hides these shoulder buttons and also enabled LEDs that are there in the camera module. The camera module has two words on it – “Freezing” and “Speediest,” and they suggest the two main features of a gaming phone – Performance and Cooling.

Redmi has also said that even if this is a gaming phone, you can use it as a normal phone because it doesn’t have that aggressive gaming vibe. It is a thin and beautiful-looking phone.

From the front, Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition has the same design as other K40 series phones. In fact, it is the same E4 OLED panel from Samsung with a 144Hz refresh rate, and there is a centered hole-punch cutout as well.

The unofficial details that we got to know so far include Dimensity 1200 SOC, 67W fast charging, and 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor on the back. Since there is still a week left for the launch, we won’t be surprised to know the full details and the pricing before the unveiling.
