The final member of the Redmi 9 series is now official in the Indian market as the Redmi 9A. So, with this launch, we now have three Redmi 9 Series devices in India – 9A, 9 & 9 Prime. The price of the 9A starts at Rs 6,799, so it is Rs 300 higher than the starting price of Redmi 8A which launched in September last year. For this price, you are getting the Helio G25 SOC, 13MP camera on the back, a 5,000mAh battery & more.
REDMI 9A – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
The phone features an “Aura 360” design like the Redmi 9 Prime, so there is a textured back panel which results in a better grip as well as reduced fingerprints. The single-camera is placed on the top left & there is a smooth non-textured strip going from the camera module all the way to the bottom. In short, the phone looks beautiful.
There is a waterdrop notch on the front & the phone has a micro-USB port on the bottom. This is perhaps the biggest downgrade from the Redmi 8A since that phone had a USB Type-C port, something which no other brand offered under Rs 7,000.
Redmi 9A has P2i Splash-proof protection & the display is TUV Certified. So it looks like Redmi has not compromised with the quality.
Talking about the specs, the Redmi 9A features a 6.53-inch HD+ display & there is MediaTek Helio G25 SOC which is a chipset for entry-level devices. The phone comes with 2/3GB RAM & 32GB internal storage which is expandable as well, thanks to a triple card slot.
There is a huge 5,000mAH battery which, paired with a 720p display & a power-efficient chipset, is going to last pretty long. There is no fast charging support since the phone supports normal 10W charging.
There is a single 13 Megapixel camera on the back with f/2.2 aperture & 1.0-micron pixel size. On the front, there is a 5 Megapixel camera. The phone offers AI Face Unlock & that’s the only way of biometric authentication since there is no fingerprint scanner. Finally, Android 10 based MIUI 12 runs out of the box.

Redmi 9A comes in three colors named Sea Blue, Nature Green and Midnight Black. Here is the pricing for India –
