Redmi is preparing to launch a new budget 5G phone, the Redmi 12 5G. The global debut is happening in India on August 1, making it the first phone under the Redmi 12 series to launch in India. It is worth mentioning that the 4G version is already official but not in India. The Redmi 12 4G was launched last month in Thailand.
The design is one of the highlights of this phone because, after a long time, Redmi is launching a budget phone with a glass back. This phone is expected to be a rebadged Redmi Note 12R launched last month in China. If that’s true, the Redmi 12 5G has a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, the first 4nm SOC under the 4-series.
Redmi has already revealed that the phone has a 50MP sensor for the primary camera, a 5,000mAh battery, up to 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage. The company also claims the phone has the largest display ever on a Redmi device. If the phone is the rebadged Redmi Note 12R, the display is a 6.79-inch IPS LCD with a 90Hz refresh rate.
The pricing is not yet known, but since Redmi 12 5G is a budget 5G phone, we expect the price to be under ₹15,000 in India. In China, the Redmi Note 12R was launched at ¥999 for the base variant, translating to ₹11,500.
