Red Magic 8 Pro design & key features shared by the company

The launch is on December 26

This year, we got four gaming phones from Red Magic – Red Magic 7, Red Magic 7 Pro, Red Magic 7S & Red Magic 7S Pro. The Red Magic 7 Pro was the first gaming phone to feature an under-display selfie camera. The company has started teasing the Red Magic 8 Pro, launching in China on December 26. While there is less than a week left for the official launch, the company has already shared the phone’s design on Weibo, along with some key features.

Red Magic 8 Pro

The biggest USP of the Red Magic 8 Pro is its design. It looks completely different than any gaming phone that Red Magic has ever launched. It does not even look like a gaming phone. It seems more like a phone you would love to have for everyday use. The phone has a minimal design which includes flat sides, not a lot of text on the rear, and a clean camera arrangement.

Red Magic 8 Pro

For those who want some gaming phone vibes, the Red Magic 8 Pro has a variant with a transparent back that shows the built-in fan with RGB lights.

On both the left and right sides, there is a vent for the airflow. In the case of the Red Magic 7 series, there was a vent on the back, too, which was for air intake, but this time, Red Magic is going back to a single air intake vent.

As for the features, Red Magic has shared that the phone has a 1/1.57″ 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor for the primary camera. On the front, there is a flat 120Hz display with slim bezels. Red Magic says the phone has a 93.7% screen-to-body ratio and 1.48mm side bezels. There is an under-display selfie camera.

To no surprise, the phone has Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.0 storage, so performance-wise, there are no complaints. For better thermals, there is the ICE 11.0 cooling system which, as per Red Magic, reduces the overall temperature of the phone by 16 degrees. The phone also uses a unique Vapor Chamber with 100% better thermal conductivity than a traditional VC.

Well, looking at all the features Red Magic has been sharing on Weibo, the Red Magic 8 Pro seems like “THE” gaming phone to beat. And since the Red Magic 7, 7 Pro & 7S Pro were launched in the global market this year, we are expecting the Red Magic 8 Pro to make it outside of the Chinese market.
