In our previous article, we talked about the Red Magic 7 gaming phone that launched in China today. Along with that phone, the company also launched Red Magic 7 Pro. As the name suggests, this is the successor to the Red Magic 6 Pro & Red Magic 6S Pro of last year. The main USP of this phone is the fact that it is the first gaming phone that features a selfie camera under the display.
Design-wise, the Red Magic 7 Pro looks clean from the front as there is no hole or a top bezel for the selfie camera. The phone has flat sides as well. On the back, there is a triple camera setup, but instead of placing the camera vertically as the Red Magic 7, the 7 Pro has a square-shaped camera housing for the cameras and the LED flash. The vent placement remains the same, so there are two air-intake vents, one on the rear and one on the left side.
Speaking of the display first, Red Magic 7 Pro has a 6.8-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color depth. The fingerprint scanner sits under the display and supports heart-rate monitoring. The display features 960Hz multi-finger touch-sampling rate. As per Red Magic, the light transmittance of the UDC area is significantly increased, thanks to a circuit-side design. This helps in making the transition between the UDC area and the rest of the display more natural. The phone even has an intelligent UDC Pro display chip that offers an intelligent pixel enhancement, more consistency, etc.
Under the hood, Red Magic 7 Pro has the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC as the Red Magic 7. But, while Red Magic 7 has ICE 8.0 cooling system, the Pro version has the ICE 9.0 cooling system that, obviously, offers better cooling. There is a large 4124mm² super large VC liquid cooling plate. The phone comes with up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB UFS 3.1 storage.
The rear camera setup is the same as Red Magic 7, but the front camera has a 16MP sensor instead of 8MP. There is a 5,000mAh battery and support for 135W charging that can charge the battery fully from 0 to 100% in 15 minutes only. In the box, Red Magic provides a 165W GaN adapter.
In China, the Red Magic 7 Pro comes in three colors and that includes a transparent version as well. Here is the pricing –
