Red Magic 7 shows up on TENAA, might launch with 165W charging

Some major specifications of the phone were revealed

Red Magic is preparing to launch its first gaming phone of 2022, and if the company doesn’t decide to randomly skip numbers, then it will definitely be called the Red Magic 7. Now, last year, we got not just the vanilla Red Magic 6 but also the Red Magic 6 Pro, Red Magic 6S, Red Magic 6S Pro, and the Red Magic 6R. This year as well, we are expecting a handful of gaming phones from the brands, but in the first half of 2022, we are expecting only the Red Magic 7 & 7 Pro to launch. Anyways, the vanilla model has now shown up on TENAA, and this listing reveals some key specs of the device.

So, as per TENAA, the model number of the phone is NX679J. Keep this model number handy in case you see this phone showing up on benchmark platforms in the coming weeks. There is a 6.8-inch display, and it is AMOLED with a Full-HD+ resolution. The Red Magic 6 had a 165Hz 10-bit AMOLED, so you can expect at least that panel on the Red Magic 7 as well. While the CPU frequency is mentioned as 2.95GHz and there is no name mentioned, it is definitely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 because that’s the best that Qualcomm offers right now.

TENAA mentions up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage. There is a dual-cell battery, so the listing only mentions the capacity of one cell, i.e., 2190mAh. Assuming that the 2nd cell has more or less the same capacity, we are looking at a 4,500mAh battery here, which is weird since the Red Magic 6 had a 5,050mAh battery. Now, the reason for this could be more than 100W fast charging. The Red Magic 6 Pro in China had a 4,500mAh battery and 120W charging, but for the global market, it had a 5,050mAh battery and 66W charging. As per Digital Chat Station, Red Magic 7 might support up to 165W fast charging!

As for the cameras, there is a normal camera setup that includes a main 64MP shooter. There is an 8MP camera for selfies. The phone is 9.5mm thick and around 215g heavy. Like the previous generation, it also has a built-in cooling fan.

Well, that’s all we got to know via TENAA, and so far, Red Magic has not teased any launch anytime soon, so like last year, we are expecting the Red Magic 7 to launch in March. Stay tuned.
