Oppo Find X9 Ultra real-life image leaks ahead of the launch

Launching on April 21

In April last year, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra was officially unveiled, and it was a camera-centric smartphone featuring a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor for the primary camera. The phone featured two periscope telephoto cameras, one offering 3x optical zoom while the other offered 6x optical zoom.

On April 21, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra is launching, and while we still have almost three weeks left for the unveiling, an image is making rounds on the internet that allegedly shows the Find X9 Ultra from the back.

One of the complaints with last year’s Oppo Find X8 Ultra was its plain design. The Oppo Find X7 Ultra of 2024 had a much better-looking design with a premium two-tone leather finish on the back. Well, the leather finish is returning with the Oppo Find X9 Ultra, at least for a special Hasselblad version. The image shows a two-tone design on the back, and there is Hasselblad branding alongside the Oppo branding. Unlike the Find X8 Ultra, there is full Hasselblad branding instead of just the ‘H.’

The camera module is huge, which is not a surprise. There are four sensors on the camera module. One interesting thing to note is that the camera module says 14-230mm, meaning there is a 230mm lens in one of the two periscope telephoto cameras. For comparison, the Oppo Find X8 Ultra had a 135mm lens for its 6x periscope telephoto camera.

Oppo has already revealed that the Find X9 Ultra comes with a periscope telephoto camera offering 10x optical zoom, and it is paired with a custom 50MP Samsung JNL sensor. Oppo is calling it a built-in ‘teleconverter.’ This way, the company is taking a dig at brands like Vivo, which offer an external teleconverter accessory to increase the optical zoom on the smartphone. The 10x periscope telephoto camera has an f/3.5 aperture lens.

Oppo says it used a ‘Quintuple Prism Reflection Periscope Structure’ for the 10x telephoto camera, which is better than the traditional L-shaped periscope telephoto structure because it takes less space (29mm vs 41mm) to fit into the body of the phone.

A lot of other details have already leaked. The phone has a 7,050mAh battery with 100W wired charging and 50W reverse wireless charging. There is a large 6.82-inch flat LTPO OLED with a Quad-HD+ resolution & 144Hz refresh rate. It is not a surprise that the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

As per rumors, there is a 200MP sensor for the primary camera and a 200MP sensor for the 3x periscope telephoto camera. The ultrawide camera has a 50MP sensor. The primary camera is said to use the same 1/1.12″ 200MP Sony LYT-901 sensor that the Vivo X300 Ultra uses. The 3x periscope telephoto camera is said to use the 1/1.28″ 200MP OmniVision OV52A sensor.

The Oppo Find X9 Ultra is launching in the global markets on April 21.
