Realme X50 5G launched in China, price starts at CNY 2,499

Realme launched its first phone of 2020 today in China named the Realme X50 5G. As the name suggests, this is also the first 5G phone from the brand. We knew everything about the phone except for the price way before the launch, but now that the phone is official, let’s talk about everything in detail. In case you don’t know, this is going to compete with the Redmi K30 5G, which launched last year in December.

REALME X50 5G – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS

The Realme X50 5G is the first phone from the brand to feature a punch-hole display. There are dual selfie cameras, so there is a pill-shaped cutout. This is similar to the Redmi K30 5G’s design, with the only difference being the position of this cutout. In the case of the K30 5G, it is on the top-right, whereas it’s on the top-left in the case of X50 5G.

On the rear, there is a Quad camera setup placed vertically on the top left. The gradient back also has a unique pattern that we have never seen before on any Realme device. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the right side, just like the Redmi K30 5G. So, there is a physical fingerprint scanner since the phone has an LCD panel on the front.

A huge surprise is the omission of the 3.5mm headphone jack on the Realme X50 5G. The reason for this could be the company’s plan to sell more Realme Buds Air.

Coming to the specifications, the X50 5G has a 6.57-inch Full-HD+ LCD panel on the front with a 120Hz refresh rate & 20:9 aspect ratio, The screen-to-body ratio is around 90.4% & the display has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Under the hood, there is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SOC, which is the first 5G SOC from Qualcomm in the Snapdragon 7-series. It is based on the 7nm manufacturing process & comes with the Adreno 620 GPU. The Realme X50 5G has 6/8/12GB RAM & 128/256GB internal storage.

There is a Quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 64 Megapixel camera with Samsung GW1 sensor, a secondary 12 Megapixel telephoto camera with 2X Optical Zoom, an 8 Megapixel third camera with ultra-wide-angle lens (119-degree), & a fourth 2 Megapixel macro lens that lets you go as close as 4cm to the subject.

So, unlike the Redmi K30 5G that has 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor, the Realme X50 5G has the same Samsung sensor that we have seen on a few Realme phones by now.

There are dual cameras on the front that include a primary 16 Megapixel camera with a Sony IMX471 sensor & a secondary 8 Megapixel wide-angle camera with 105-degree FOV.

Finally, there is a 4,200mAH battery & VOOC Flash Charge 4.0 with which the battery can charge up to 70% in just half an hour. It is also the first Realme phone to feature the Realme UI based on Android 10. It is worth mentioning that the phones that will get Realme UI update in China include Realme Q, Realme X Youth Edition, Realme X2 & Realme X2 Pro.
